Black 'N Blue was a heavy metal band formed in 1981 in Portland, OR.  The lineup was Jaime St. James (vocals), Tommy Thayer (lead guitar), Jeff Warner (guitar), Patrick Young (bass), and Peter Holmes (drums). They moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1982 and released their self-titled debut album on Geffen Records in 1984.  At the end of 1985, Black 'N Blue opened for two months on the Asylum Tour.  Black 'N Blue would later release three more albums through 1988, and eventually broke up in 1989. Shortly thereafter, Tommy Thayer was hired by Gene Simmons to work in various capacities for $immons Records and eventually .

So, while Tommy is the newest member of on stage, the reality is Tommy has been a member of the family in various capacities since the early 1990's.  This includes penning the song "Childhood's End" which appears on the "Carnival Of Souls" album as well as participating in the "Symphony Alive IV" recording and studio recordings of the "Psycho Circus" album.
